  1. Range Location: The Ben Avery (Black Canyon) Shooting Range, 25 miles north of Phoenix, AZ. 1/2 mile west of I-17 on the Carefree Hwy. (exit 223). Competitors will enter throught the gate behind the 1000 yard lin, this gate is 1/2 mile west of the main gate. MAP

  2. NOTE, long shot drive is LOCKED the combo is "2005" it must be kept locked.

  3. Facilities:A camping area, water & toilet facilities is available, during the matches, for competitors only. Soft drinks are available, but bring your own lunch.
  4. Sleep Inn Phoenix, North, call & ask for special $55/$60 rate

    Warning: official bulletin reports that "GLASS BOTTLES ARE NOT ALLOWED ANYWHERE ON THE RANGE!
    Possession of glass bottles can result in a fine of from $40 to $80".

    [I do not believe this rule is currently valid, but rather than take any chances, I don't bring glass bottles.]
     

  5. Rules: Current NRA Highpower rules shall apply.
  6. Eligibility:Open to individual members of the NRA, except that Juniors may be members of an NRA affiliated club in lieu of individual membership. All competitors must be paid-up members of the ASR&PA. ($15.00 for adults, $5.00 for Juniors. If a competitor does not wish to join the ASR&PA he/she may pay a $5.00 membership fee for this match.)
  7. Advanced Entries are required: All entries must be paid in advance.
  8. Individual Entries: Make entry in individual events on the attached Registration & Entry Form (include NRA membership ID#). Entries MUST be accompanied by check, money order or NRA  Points made payable to ASR&PA, HP Division. Mail to Middleton Tompkins, PO Box 11684, Prescott, AZ, 86304. Phone: (928) 776-8576. Fees paid by those unable to attend will be refunded upon request, less a $10.00 service fee, providing cancellation is made prior to 6:00 PM. Monday, 24-Nov-08. There will be no refunds for those cancelling after that time.
  9. Entries Close: 6:00 PM Monday, 24-Nov-08. Entries after this time are considered late entries and may be accepted to fill vacancies on existing relasy only. An additional $20.00 will be charged for late entries.
  10. Entry Limits: 180 Individual entries. [we can handle a lot more now]
  11. Fees:
  12. Reminder: Everyone who is not a current paid-up member of the ASR&PA must select one of the following options:
    1. Those wishing to be a member of the ASR&PA may do so by submitting appropriate fees ($20.00 for adults; $5.00 for juniors).
    2. Those not wishing to be a member of the ASR&PA must pay a $5.00 one-time Membership fee for this match.
    Late entry fee: $20.00

    Challenge fee: $1.00. The challenge fee must be paid at the time the challenge is requested.

    Practice Firing: The match fees do not include Ben Avery Range fees for individuals practicing before the match. Those wishing to practice 200 & 300 yards on Wednesday must pay a $10.00 range fee to the individual running the range on Wednesday. No practice on Thursday.

  13. Targets: SR at 200 yrds, SR-3 at 300 yrds, MR-1 at 600 yds, LR at 800, 900 and 1000 yards
  14. Target Service: No target pullers will be provided for this match.
  15. Open Bolt Indicator (OBI): Approved NRA "open bolt indicators" are required to be used at all times except during the preparation time and firing of your relay. Those not having an OBI may purchase one at the stat. office for $1.00 each.
  16. Squadding: All matches will be squaded. Squadding tickets for individual matches will be issued at the Stat. Office starting at approx. 7:30 AM on Match Days. A competitor who fails to obtain his squadding ticket by 8:00 AM will only be squadded to fill up vacancies. Be prepared to show ASR&PA and NRA membership cards and NRA highpower rifle classification card when picking up squadding tickets.
  17. Scoring: Competitors will score. Any competitor failing to perform scoring duties may be disqualified.
  18. Classification: NRA Highpower Classification will be used. Rule 19.6 "Assigned Classification" may be used. Those unclassified for without proof of classification, will be required to compete in the Master class. Please indicate classification on the Registration & Entry Form.
  19. Division by Rifle:
  20. Categories: (Friday) Service, (Includes Reserve, and National Guard), Civilian Service Rifle, and Palma Rifle.
  21.                   (Sat. & Sun.) Service,(Includes Reserve, and National Guard), Civilian Service Rifle, and Match Rifle.
  22. Awards: Monetary awards will be given to each Match winner and to the high individuals in each Division Category/Class award group on Friday, Saturday & Sunday in accordance with a schedule which will be posted at the stat office prior to commencement of firing. Award groups must contain a minimum of 5 competitors or they will be combined with the next appropriate award group per policy. Second, thrid, fourth place, etc. awards will be given based on one awared for each seven (7) competitors, i.e. second 8-14, third 15-21, etc.

    Special individual awards:In match #8 a High Junior, High Woman, high senior and a high grand senior award will be given if there are 5 or more entries.

  24. Challenge Period:The challenge period ends 1/2 hour after the posting of the match results.

     Friday, 28-November 2008, 8:30 AM
    Match #1: 1000 yds. Any-rifle Any-sight. Unlimited sighters and 20 shots for record. Time 30 min.

    Match #2:  1000 yds. Any-rifle Iron-sight. Unlimited sighters and 20 shots for record. TIme 30 min

    Match #3:  1000 yds. Service Rifle or Palma Rifle. Unlimited sighters and 20 shots for record. Time 30 min.

    Saturday, 29-November 2008, 8:30 AM

    Match #4: 200 yards, Slow fire standing, 2 sighters, 20 shots for record, 22 min.

    Match #5: 200 yards, Rapid fire sitting, 2 sighters, 2 ten-shot strings, rapid fire, standing to sitting or kneeling, 60 seconds per string.

    Match #6: 300 yds. rapid fire prone, 2 sighters & 2 ten-shot strings, rapid fire standing to prone, 70 seconds per string.

    Match #7: 600 yds. slow fire prone, 2 sighters & 20 shots for record, 22 minutes.

    Match #8: The Arizona State Championship: Aggregate Total score of matches 3, 4, 5 & 6.

    Match #9: CMP "LEG" National Match Course.
    It is not necessary to enter the NRA matches to participate in this match.
     

    1. OPEN TO: any US citizen 16 or older
    2. RULES: CMP rules
    3. ENTRY LIMITS: 180, priority to non-distinguished
    4. ENTRIES advance entries required, Mail to Middleton Tompkins, PO Box 11684, Prescott, AZ, 86304. Phone: (928) 776-8576. must complete OFFICIAL entry form at stat office by 8:30 am Sunday 30-Nov-08
    5. ENTRY FEE: $20 - Include this fee with NRA match fees. ($10.00 CMP "LEG" entry fee, plus $10.00 range & service fees).
    6. ENTRIES CLOSE: 6pm 24-Nov-08 Late entries accepted only to fill vacancies. Obtain entry card prior to 8:30 am on match day.
    7. AUTHORIZED ARMS: US rifle, 30 M1, 7.62 M1, 7.62 M14, 7.62 M1A, 4 1/2 lb trigger, US rifle, cal 5.56 M16 or equiv.
    8. AMMUNITION NOTE: competitors must furnish, FMJ or HPBT.
    9. TARGET SERVICE: Competitors will pull targets
    10. SCORING: Competitors will score
    11. COURSE OF FIRE: The National Match Course (50 shots) no sighters.
    12. AWARDS: credit towards distinguished & appropriate EIC badges.
    13. Before a person may shoot CMP "LEG" match, they must have a certificate of eligibility affidavit and liability agreement on file with the ASRPA.
